Human vs Bot: Can You Outsmart the AI?
Artificial intelligence technology has started to play a massive role in our lives. The global market for this powerful technology was worth over $279 billion last year and is growing nearly 36% a year.
There are countless reasons people and businesses are investing so much in AI. However, some appear to be overestimating its abilities and ignoring its downsides. Despite all of the things that it can do very effectively, there are still some major limitations.
Do these limitations mean that you can potentially outsmart AI technology? The answer is yes. There are still some things that humans can do a lot better than AI. This is something that is not likely to change anytime soon and probably never will. This is one of the reasons so many companies use AI Detector tools to identify AI content.
Here are some ways that humans can still outperform AI technology. They will probably always have an advantage in these areas.
Emotional Intelligence and Understanding Social Skills
AI technology is able to mimic human emotions and pretend to understand them. However, it does not have a visceral understanding of human psychology or emotions.
This can lead to challenges when it comes to performing therapy, writing sales copy or trying to give relationship advice. All of these tasks require understanding human feelings, priorities and social conditioning variables.
While AI might be able to give general rules of thumb based on content it has been trained on, it is not able to nuance its advice to specific situations. This can be a serious problem for tasks that require unique insights into specific people's feelings and state of minds.
Learning to Embrace Creative Thinking
Another area where AI is not as effective as humans is with creative thinking. Generative AI tools are great at repurposing existing content or generating content based on all the datasets. However, it simply can't come up with new ideas on its own.
For example, one writer wrote an article about a major technology stock IPO being severely overpriced. They looked at financial data showing that the price-to-earnings ratio of the stock was about 100. This gave them a great idea for their article on the overhyped company and they were able to pull additional data to support their argument. The same writer tried to use AI to follow a similar approach with a different article, but it failed spectacularly. AI simply didn't have the capacity to come up with its own ideas for an article, much less writing the entire article with supporting arguments.
People might be able to use AI to streamline the process of developing creative content or brainstorming new ideas. Protect your creative work and business data by using a password manager to secure access to all the AI tools and platforms you integrate into your workflow. However, AI itself is simply not capable of doing so on its own.
Making Judgment Calls When There are No Clear Right Answers
AI is great at quickly making calculations or giving answers to simple questions with obvious right or wrong answers. However, it is not nearly as effective at providing open-ended answers to complex questions. People that try using it for these purposes are often going to be severely disappointed.
One example is if a manager needs to decide whether they need to take disciplinary action against an employee that is late. They need to take a number of subjective factors into consideration, such as the employee’s overall productivity, whether they are regularly late and how difficult it will be to replace them. It is often very difficult to make this decision. However, if the manager asked an AI tool to make it for them, it might simply say that they should fire the employee because they violated a rule.
People that need to decide whether or not to break up with their romantic partner might also run into similar issues. They need to consider the severity of the offense got their partner committed and weigh it against everything that the relationship brings to the table. They need to consider the impact that it will have on their children, financial future and emotional well-being. AI tools simply can't take all of these factors into consideration.
Coming Up with a Long-Term Vision
AI tends to be good at solving smaller problems that are limited in scope, such as creating content, providing an answer to an easy question or writing a block of code. It is not nearly as good at dealing with larger, more complex problems such as outlining the long-term vision for our company or writing an entire novel on its own.
Humans still need to come up with the big picture for larger problems on their own. AI might help them with certain steps of the process, but it can't do the entire thing for them.
AI is Powerful But It Can’t Do Everything Better than Humans
There are a lot of great things with AI, but it has a lot of limitations too. People need to still solve certain problems on their own, such as understanding the mindset of people they are working with and making subjective judgmental calls.
